[Project] Part 1 Bible Quiet Book – Jesus Walks on Water

In my previous post, ‘Set-Up for Bible Quiet Book,’ we started setting up for the Bible Quiet Book.

You’ll find the pattern for this Bible Quiet Book in my friend’s Etsy store.

This post will step you through how to put together the last felt page in the Quiet Book.

I started on the last page because it looked like the easiest page to begin with.

Pattern Pieces, Pin & Cut-out Felt

1.) Find all the pattern pages with the ‘P#’ pieces.

2.) Tape together the patterns with two pages.

3.) Cut around the outline edges to all the pattern pages being used for this page.

4.) Pin pattern pages to their respective color felt sheets and cut out ONLY the ‘P#’ pieces.

Place Felt Pieces & Sew

Note: use matching thread when sewing felt.

numbered-felt-arranged-bkground-Jesus-walking-water

5.) Place felt pieces P16 (light blue sky), P17 (dark blue wave), P18 (dark blue wave) and P19 (blue water) onto one of your 9 white felt pages.

6.) Sew each piece onto the back white felt page using your respective thread colors.

  •  Sew about an 1/8″ in from the edge of the felt piece you’re top-stitching on.
  •  Be careful around the tight curves, going nice and slow.

sewn-bkground-Jesus-walking-water2

When you’re done it should look like this.

7.) Next sew waves on the main water piece.

  • – This is an updated picture of how it should look like.

8.) Put P12 (white cloud), P13 (white cloud), P14 (green seaweed) and P15 (green seaweed) on top of the page in their respective places.

9.) Cut a square of thick interfacing to go behind P14 (green seaweed) on the page.

redo-placed-interfacing-back-page-Jesus-walking-water

Back of the felt page should look like this with squares of thick interfacing in their respective spots.

numbered-redo-iron-interfacing-back-page-Jesus-walking-water

17.) Iron the 4 squares of thick interfacing on back of felt page.

  • – Be careful not to iron too long, the felt will melt.

Sew Fish

18.) Place purple fish pieces: P8 (dark blue fish body), P1 (purple small fin), & P4 (purple large fin) onto thin interfacing.

  • – Felt pieces should be placed on the glue/adhesive side of the interfacing.

19.) Iron interfacing onto fish pieces.

  • – I made my sewing machine foot guide stationary (switching over the lever in the picture above from left to right) and used the zig-zag stitch to make the eye. Make sure to switch the lever back when you’re done :).
  • – For the mouth I just sewed a short line with the straight stitch and back-stitched to make a thicker line.
